Narendra Modi- an open letter

Respected Shri Narendra Modi ji,

I am 57 years ordinary citizen of India and presently an executive in a Public Sector Bank, to introduce myself. I congratulate you on the thumping victory you achieved in Lok Sabha poll. However, I share with you certain experiences and expectations, I and the 125 crore citizens of the nation have from you.

About 20 years back, on the auspicious day of Krishna Janmashtami, I planted a Gulmohar tree outside the boundaries of our house with sole intention that my old father would sit in its shade during summer days. Beyond my expectations, the tree grew very large beautifully spreading its branches in all directions like a big umbrella. Its exquisite red colored flowers on its top looked like a dream creation in the heaven. My father enjoyed its pleasant umbrage for ten years and then left for his heavenly abode in 2003. Still the tree is standing like giant with its all embraced beauty of green leaves and red flowers giving its benevolent shelter to the passerby.

Do you know why you have got such a big success when only one year back nobody could have dreamt such a thumping victory for BJP. The entire nation was gloomed. With Mr APJ Abdul Kalam (ignited minds), the nation was lamenting at the passing away of a generation of politicians with a voice, vision and reach that went far beyond our borders. We, the one hundred twenty five crore citizens,  were lamenting at the state sponsored, abnormal and paranoid fixation with a particular country that has blinded us  to the rest of the world, including the third world, which we  used to head not so long ago. Everyone was weeping softly at what we have reduced ourselves to in the comity of nations. For a large country with a billion people, a country with a thriving industry and a large pool of scientific talent, a country that is a nuclear power, India does not count for as much as it should. In terms of our influence in world affairs, probably no other country is so far below its potential as we are.

In such a depressing environment, you have come forward, I am sure, with the intention to give India ‘Achhe Din’ (golden days) and not to enjoy the leisure of life or only to be counted as one of the Prime Ministers in the history of India. From your life history, performance and sacrifices made, I have realized that Mr Narendra Modi was never an individual, Modi has always been a movement. I am pretty confident that you have come to take India to greater heights. Over the years, I have realized one thing that our perseverance and hard work matter a lot for our success but what matters the most is the intent with which we initiate any project. Our intent is that smallest seed which has in it the divine force that gives birth to a giant tree. More the purity in intent, more will be the divine force, the bigger will be the tree. The tree which I planted got its gigantic muscles, beauty and long life, because it was planted to give comfort to my father.

I wish you good luck for your new assignment and pray God for your success. In your success lies the success of 125 crore citizens of India.
