PROVIDENCE

"He God Ji. You are always standing within  the precincts of  this temple. Do you not get bored. Don't you ever long to move out to see the beauty of nature- its landscape, its greenery, its colours. Everyone wants change. Why don't you want it", a teen-aged boy asked the idol of God in his innocence sympathizing the state of the idol.

God kept quiet as usual as if unconcerned of the pleadings of the boy.

Boy in his innocence beseeched earnestly to God, "God Ji, one day, only for one day, please go out and enjoy the freedom. I shall stand in your place. You will feel the vibrancy in the outside world."

Seeing the purity of heart and the childish innocence of the boy, God  bequeathed to his pleadings, " OK Vats, I accept your request and allow you to stand on my place. But there is a condition attached to it that you will not move nor speak but simply watch whatever happens around you".

Boy readily accepted and the positions were exchanged and God moved out.

Boy in his curiosity stood like an idol. A gentleman, richly dressed, prostrated before the boy idol and  unknowingly left his wallet full of currency notes before the idol. Seeing this the boy was about to shout, " o gentleman, you have left your wallet". But he remembered the instructions of God and kept quite.

After sometime, a little boy, very poor in his clothing and appearance as if had not taken meals for days, entered the temple and closing his eyes begged God for  food and money. As he opened his eyes, he saw the wallet full of currency notes. Considering that his wish had been granted, he took the wallet and was about  to go. The idol boy could not tolerate the scene that a little boy  was really stealing the money to which he did not have lawful right. But again, as  promised  to God, he kept quiet.

A short while there after, a government employee, very sad due to his transfer to a far off city, entered the temple, folded his hands and started reciting the mantras. Immediately after him, the rich gentleman along with the police entered the temple and alleged that the employee had stolen his wallet. The police arrested the employee.

Seeing the innocent person being arrested, the idol boy could not stop himself and told the whole truth to the police. Police released the employee, arrested the poor boy and returned the wallet to rich gentleman.

In the evening, when God came back, the boy proudly narrated the whole story how he caused justice to all the three persons. God, the omnipresent, omniscient told," you have not caused justice but have done gross injustice to all of them. Now listen how it was done. The rich gentleman had earned plenty of money through illegal means. He is bound to go to hell due to his misdeeds.  Had his some money gone to that poor boy, it would have been an unintentional good deed on his part.  Perhaps his punishment for misdeeds would have reduced and that poor boy who was hungry for many days would have taken full meals and good clothing. The employee who has been transferred to a far off city is ordained to die in an accident in that city only. Had he been arrested and not gone to that city, his life would have been saved".

Saying these words, God occupied his position and the boy lamented his thoughtless acts.
